Privacy Policy
Last Updated: August 27, 2026
Our Privacy Philosophy: We believe your health habits are personal. SmokeLog is designed from the ground up as a local-first, offline-only application. We do not run servers, we do not require account creation, and we cannot access your data.
1. Information We Collect
SmokeLog does not collect, transmit, or store any personal or usage data on external servers. All data you input remains local to your device:
- Smoke Logs: Quantities, types (cigarettes, vapes, cigars, other), timestamps, and optional notes are stored in a local SQLite database on your device.
- Quit Goals & Preferences: Your selected quit goal, smoke-free start time, and theme selections are stored locally on your device via Android SharedPreferences.
2. How Your Data is Stored
Your data is stored in the application's private storage area on your Android device using SQLite Room database framework. No other applications can access this private directory under standard Android sandbox security models.
3. Database Backups
SmokeLog provides a manual **Local Backup & Restore** feature. When you trigger a backup:
- The app generates a `.json` or `.db` backup file containing your local log database.
- This backup file is saved into the directory you choose on your local device storage or cloud storage provider (e.g. Google Drive) via Android's System File Picker.
- We have no access to these backup files. It is your responsibility to secure these files.
4. Third-Party Services
Our application uses Google Play Services to handle application purchases (In-App Purchases / Google Play Billing):
- Google Play Billing: When you purchase SmokeLog Premium, the transaction is handled securely by Google Play. The app stores a cryptographic token locally on your phone to verify purchase success. We do not receive your credit card, bank details, or personal identity details.
5. Data Deletion
Because we do not store your data on any server, we cannot delete it for you. You have complete control over your data deletion:
- To delete individual logs, you can use the History tab inside the app.
- To delete **all database logs**, go to the Settings tab inside the app and click **Clear All Data**.
- Uninstalling the SmokeLog application from your Android device will permanently remove all local databases and preference records.
6. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected by revising the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Since the app does not connect to the internet, policy updates will only be packaged with application store updates.
